Day 32 - Greek Goddess of Victory

When I decided to have this surgery, there were certain goals I had in mind. Obviously the main goal is to live a longer life so I can be a better husband and father. There were lots of health reasons that dictated the decision. And then there were some possibly narcissistic reasons I chose this path. And one of those "silly" reasons was clothing. Specifically, Nike apparel.

Those that know me, know that I'm a big Crimson Tide fan. I've loved the University of Alabama since I was a child. That's where I went to college. That's where I met my wife. If I didn't live in Huntsville, which is my home, I would live in Tuscaloosa. I follow all Alabama athletics very closely, and spend exorbitant amounts of money each year attending events in T-town.

For those unaware, Nike doesn't make sizes in Super-Morbidly Obese. And I haven't been able to wear the official Nike apparel since I was in high school. Instead, I've been relegated to cheap knockoffs and Walmart gear in size "fat ass." And there's nothing wrong with that, aside from the fact that more often than not it looks terribly cheesy.

For my birthday, I was given a pair of Alabama Nike Dri-Fit shorts, and the sumbitches fit! I can't begin to describe how excited I was, and still am, that I can fit in Nike sizes again - well, at least for the lower body. When the day comes that I can wear t-shirts and polos again, I may have a full-blown come-apart of happiness!

As I said, this may seem silly to some. But it has been a goal of mine. And one that I'm very very happy to realize - at least partially.

Weight continues to drop about 1/2 lb a day right now, which I think is a great pace for weight loss. As long as I'm trending downward, I'm ecstatic. Blood pressure continues to average around 110/65 without medication.

Tonight will be the fifth walk of the week. After 4 walks this week, I've walked 4.73 miles. I'll be looking to hit the 6 mile mark tonight. The exercise routine continues to go well and I truly look forward to each night's outing.

I promised photos at 390. I'll be posting some in the next few days. I don't look much different than I did previously. Most of the weight has been lost in my lower body.

Weight this morning: 388.6 (-53lbs)

Regards,
John
