Day 61 - 10-year Milestone!

When I got married in September 2001, I remember being incredibly uncomfortable during the rehearsal dinner, where I was sporting a white UA polo that felt way too tight. I don't know what my weight was back then.

That same polo still hangs in my closet, having never been worn since.

Hovering around the 374 mark last week, I was real nervous about breaking what had become a solid routine of eating right and exercising to go on a week-long vacation. I mean, what's a vacation without trying out the local cuisine and lounging around? As we headed to the North Carolina coast, I convinced myself to relax, not worry about the diet too much, and just enjoy my time "off."

The week went great. I used dinner as my meal to experiment with new foods. I had protein shakes for breakfast and usually a turkey sammich for lunch. But at dinner, I cut loose. During the week's meals, I tried each of the following without any issues:

- Conch Fritters
- Spanish Mackerel
- Flounder
- Boiled Shrimp
- Fried Shrimp
- Buffalo Shrimp
- Blue Crab

My favorite meal of the week was likely a low country boil where I was able to enjoy protein rich sausage and shrimp that was simply fantastic.

Still, there were several meals where I likely ate more than I should have. Only once did I get sick due to eating too much, but that was one too many times. Despite the fact that I apparently don't "dump" (a term used to describe someone who suffers from Dumping Syndrome due to sugar intake or other overindulgences), I fought off the indescribably powerful urge to try out some sinful looking fudge at the Beaufort, North Carolina General Store.

And while I was likely burning calories wading in the surf and playing with the kids, I didn't exercise at all.

The entire vacation I was fighting off powerful urges while giving in to others. I gave in enough that I was hesitant to step on to the scales this morning. But it had to be done.

So I prepared myself for disappointment and climbed aboard the scale only to find a pleasant surprise. I weighed in at 367.6.

I stepped off the scale and tried on the white polo to find that it fits nicely. Which likely means that I'm now the smallest I've been in over 10 years.

And while that milestone feels fantastic, I have yet another one in sight.

For years I've been terribly embarrassed when visiting the doctor's office because the old school scales only weigh up to 350 pounds. I used to dread every time I had to go to the doctor because I knew I'd have to say something about exceeding the scale capacity.

So I didn't blow it on vacation. I came home to an awesome milestone. And I have another milestone in sight.

And the beat goes on.

Weight this morning: 367.6 (-74lbs)

Regards,
The Vanishing Taylor
